Smart Freight Centre and the Science Based Targets initiative join forces to further drive transport sector decarbonization

Amsterdam, 25 April, 2023 - Smart Freight Centre (SFC) and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) have formed a technical collaboration to further build on the platform they have developed to accelerate the decarbonization of the transport sector. The entities will collaborate to standardize greenhouse gas accounting, conventions and high-level principles to set global 1.5°C-aligned pathways for the transport industry.

The Zero Emission Freight Initiative Annual Meeting 2023 was successfully organized by Smart Freight Centre China in Beijing on March 21st. The China Zero Emission Freight Status Report 2022 was officially released during the summit, reviewing the policy, technology, infrastructure, and business update of zero emission freight in China.
Smart Freight Centre to be the new host for the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI)

The development process included a month-long public consultation to guarantee the criteria and guidance are robust, clear and practical, and provide business leaders with confidence that their decarbonization strategies are in line with climate science.

Amsterdam, 21 November 2022 - Smart Freight Centre (SFC) convened a workshop as part of New York Climate Week to discuss advancement of a book and claim chain of custody system for transport decarbonization. Some of the workshop topics included a review of potential challenges associated with book and claim as a tool for transport decarbonization, the controls that would need to be implemented to address these challenges, and next steps towards broad uptake of a common book and claim framework for transport decarbonization.
