Mieux vaut tard que jamais: le Cadre GLEC!

Amsterdam, 24 September 2020 - The French translation of the GLEC Framework 2.0, le Cadre GLEC, was released today by Smart Freight Centre and the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC)

It's been just over a year since we released v2.0 of the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework- and oh, what a year it's been. We've seen the GLEC Framework popping up across the globe, from adoption by major companies like Unilever and PepsiCo, tools like Flexport and EcoTransit, disclosure platforms like CDP, and climate target-setting programs like the Science-Based Targets initiative. As the old adage goes, you can't manage what you don't measure, and companies and stakeholders around the world are using the GLEC Framework to measure and manage their freight transport emissions.

We believe this information should be available to everyone. To that end, we are thrilled to launch the French translation of the GLEC Framework - le Cadre GLEC.

France has long been on the forefront of emissions accounting and disclosure, through their l’Agence de la transition écologique (ADEME) and their groundbreaking 2004 Bilan Carbone methodology. ADEME has been a contributor in the development of the GLEC since the very beginning, offering technical insights as well as practical advice based on their extensive experience promoting proper carbon accounting.

"Collaborating with l'ADEME has been a key part of the GLEC Framework's success," says GLEC Framework co-author and Smart Freight Centre's Expert Advisor Suzanne Greene, "publishing the 2019 GLEC Framework in French will allow us to continue to collaborate with French companies to reach our mutual goals of transportation emissions reduction."
“The GLEC Framework represents the latest methodological developments on logistics emissions quantification and reporting, at an international scale. It is the current state of the art in the calculation and reporting of emissions. Cadre GLEC is essential reading.” says Marc Cottignies, Expert Engineer at ADEME.

Climate change is a global problem, and the proper calculation and reporting of emissions is a global solution. Le Cadre GLEC is one more step on our journey to make emissions from transportation visible - no matter what language you speak.
