SFC Exchange Network announces its next phase by transitioning to a new dedicated company to scale impact, further catalyzing the shift towards emissions transparency and logistics decarbonization

Amsterdam, 28 November 2023 – The SFC Exchange Network, a groundbreaking initiative of stakeholder-led, decentralized, emissions data exchange within the transport logistics sector, is bringing its success to scale through the establishment of a dedicated purpose driven company, enabling the required transparency in logistics emissions.

The SFC Exchange Network supports shippers, logistics service providers and thousands of transport carriers in addressing their logistics emissions and assists companies in meeting upcoming regulations on carbon reporting. The SFC Exchange Network was successfully tested in July 2023 with several Smart Freight Centre member companies. The next phase will be to expand the digital infrastructure required for secure, standardized, auditable, and multimodal transportation carbon data exchange across the end-to-end supply chain, as well as the onboarding of all partners.

Discussions are already underway with institutional and strategic investors to secure the necessary funding for this for-profit for-good venture, with a long-term vision to establish a sustainable solution at scale. The newly incorporated company is intended to be based out of Montreal, Canada to better serve the North American market and leveraging the opportunities presented by this new venture. Governed by an independent board of directors, the new company will be co-branded as part of Smart Freight Centre (SFC).

Christoph Wolff, CEO of SFC, emphasizes:

"The new company will enable us to scale accurate and granular emission data exchange a lot faster, attracting the required funding and talent, while maintaining the independence, openness, and collaborative spirit of the successful pilot. This is a crucial step in unraveling the complexities surrounding logistics emissions and fostering a collective commitment towards sustainable solutions."

Expanded pilots are set to be initiated in quarter 1 2024 with SFC members, eager to become early adopters. They will leverage the successful proof of concept concluded in the first half of 2023 and an improved API-technology that is scheduled for release in January 2024. Solution providers are invited to utilize and connect to the cloud agnostic infrastructure to build purpose driven solutions and enable advanced decarbonization actions by members.

SFC is hosting dedicated workshops with its members in the coming weeks to share details, collect interests and use cases, supporting the new company in building the most relevant product for its members. This strategic move aligns with the SFC Exchange Network's commitment to stakeholder-led decentralized data exchange, reinforcing its dedication to addressing industry challenges and steering the transport logistics sector toward a sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
