Shared Charging for e-Trucks
Battery electric trucks technology is still in its early market stage, and key elements including the provision of charging infrastructure are shrouded in uncertainty. Our latest concept note aims to outline the challenges around charging infrastructure and to consider shared charging as a way forward.
Second Life of E-Truck Batteries for Sustainable Logistics
The EU's road freight sector is rapidly adopting electric trucks, with heavy-duty vehicle sales tripling. This study, a collaboration between Smart Freight Centre and Cenex Nederland, explores the significant potential of EoFL (End of First Life) batteries from electric trucks. It highlights the potential of reuse and the repurposing of e-truck batteries after their first life, focusing on market demand, benefits, and challenges of second life batteries (SLB). It also addresses regulatory considerations and offers practical recommendations for policymakers and the logistics sector to support a sustainable SLB ecosystem.

SFC India - Accelerating Low Emission Logistics in India - Seminar/Workshop Summary Report
Smart Freight Centre India organized a workshop on ‘Accelerating Low Emission Logistics in India’ in Delhi on 12th June. The day-long workshop brought together key stakeholders from the Indian freight ecosystem, including shippers, LSPs, financial institutions, OEMs, and policymakers, focusing on - Opportunities and Strategic Lever for accelerating Zero Emission Truck (ZET) adoption in India, Emission Accounting for Low Emission Logistics and Financing for ZETs. The following report summarizes the key happenings and takeaways of the seminar/workshop.
China Default GHG Emission Values V1.0 - Chinese
This document provides the 1st version of the default values for “well-to-wheel” (WTW) fuel emission factors and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity for China road transport. It is developed by Smart Freight Centre China and Technical Partners, following the basic requirements of ISO 14083 and GLEC Framework v3.0. It provides a summary of the default values, as well as a brief description of the methodologies, sources, and gap analysis.

GLEC Framework for Logistics Emissions Accounting and Reporting version 3.0 - Chinese
Freight transportation and logistics activities currently contribute 8‒10% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and demand for freight transport is expected to almost triple by 2050, according to the International Transport Forum. To meet the Climate Targets of the United Nations’ Paris Agreement, it is crucial to improve the efficiency of freight transport and reduce transport-related emissions. A concerted global effort is necessary to achieve goals. The GLEC Framework v3 supports you in your efforts and contribution to reaching these goals.
SFC Exchange Network Stable Release 1.0 Report
The SFC Exchange Network is a sociotechnical project aiming to establish a decentralized data exchange system for capturing logistics greenhouse gas emissions. It addresses challenges such as data gaps and interoperability issues by supporting organizations in acquiring reliable data and facilitating peer-to-peer data exchange. Building on previous SFC projects and integrating the iLEAP data model, it envisions achieving emissions transparency and promoting decarbonization within transport chains. Operating on the concept of dataspaces, the network enables secure and seamless data sharing, with stakeholders governing the ecosystem collaboratively.
